WTAQ | May 19, 2017
On May 19, 2017, News Radio WTAQ (97.5 | 1360) featured a story on its website titled:
Some claim Clarke unqualified
Can you spot the bias?
In this report, WTAQ commits bias by source and story selection by choosing to feature a story only highlighting individuals who believe Sheriff Clarke is unqualified to serve as Assistant Director of Homeland Security. What about “some” who believe Clarke is qualified?
The reality is that in our polarized nation, one will be hard-pressed to find a political appointee who is universally deemed to be “qualified.” As such, choosing to feature a story such as this only serves to highlight negative opinions, while ignoring positive opinions – an act that tilts the scales of public opinion.
** Editor’s Note: WMCF will address the coverage regarding Sheriff Clarke’s supposed “plagiarism” in a separate analyses.**
