WBAY Omits Key Facts

WBAY ABC 2  |  1-30-2017

In its January 30, 2017, 10 pm newscast, Channel 2 (WBAY) featured a story concerning the impending enrollment deadline for Obamacare. Watch the story and listen carefully:

Were you able to spot the bias?

Notice at the end of the report, the anchor states:

“If you don’t have healthcare, you will face a fine.”

Interestingly, WBAY fails to report a critical piece of information that those considering whether or not to enroll might want to know. On January 20, 2017, WBAY featured the following report on its website.

Specifically, the report notes:

In an opening salvo against “Obamacare,” President Donald Trump signed an executive order Friday night that appears aimed squarely at undoing the unpopular requirement that individuals carry insurance or face fines.

Despite President Trump’s executive order, and his repeated statements that Obamacare was a “failure” that needed to be “repealed and replaced,” many on the Left who support Obamacare have been pushing individuals to enroll in the program, presumably to make it that much more difficult for President Trump and Republican lawmakers to dismantle. You can read more about Obamacare in this article on The Washington Times.

WBAY’s report omits key facts, which if known, might have dissuaded an individual from enrolling in Obamacare. Failure to report these facts constitutes bias by omission.
