WFRV CBS 5 failed to present the context of a “controversial comment” made by a Republican Congressman.
WFRV only presented the interpretation of liberals to the comment without explaining the conservative perspective.
The Republican Congressman stated that having photo ID in Wisconsin will hurt the chances of Democrats to win elections.
Republicans have long argued that Democrats have cheated in elections by bribing voters to vote, encouraging deceptive voting practices such as voting under another person’s name or voting in the name of dead people or voting multiple times.
WFRV’s competitors did present the context. WFRV also failed to include in its reporting that there have been no major issues of individuals around the state being denied voting rights because of the voter ID law.
Here is the transcript of WFRV’s one-sided report:
WFRV Anchor: One Wisconsin Congressman made some controversial comments when asked about GOP candidates historically losing Wisconsin in the general election.
Congressman Glenn Grothman: I think Hillary Clinton is about the weakest candidate the Democrats have ever put up and now we have photo ID. I think photo ID is going to make a difference as well.
WFRV Anchor: Many Democratic groups have argued that voter ID was designed to restrict voting access to minorities, the poor, the young, and the elderly.
