If you search our archives you’ll notice that we have documented a pattern of bias by Green Bay media in its reporting on Planned Parenthood. It seems the Green Bay news stations will go to unusual lengths to keep the nation’s largest abortion provider from getting negative publicity.
WLUK FOX 11 went so far as to omit from its lead at 5 p.m. on January 26, 2016 the fact that a Texas grand jury was commissioned to investigate Planned Parenthood for illegally selling fetal body parts. That’s body parts! The allegations stem from undercover video from the Houston Planned Parenthood facility.
The videos appeared to show that Planned Parenthood may be selling the “fully intact” bodies of unborn babies purposefully born alive and left to die so that body parts and organs can be harvested and sold for profit.
Instead of indicting Planned Parenthood for selling body parts, the grand jury indicted the activist behind the video for buying the body parts. The activist faces a misdemeanor count related to purchasing human organs and was also indicted along with another activist on a felony charge of tampering with a governmental record.
That’s the story. That’s not, however, how FOX 11 reported it. Check it out.
FOX 11 Anchor: New details on two anti-abortion activists who were indicted yesterday. Authorities say the pair made videos about Planned Parenthood. Now, the pair is accused of using fake driver’s licenses to infiltrate the group. Authorities believe they used the California licenses that they knew were fake with the intent to defraud and harm another. Both are facing a charge of tampering with governmental records which is a felony. The videos that they made allege that Planned Parenthood sold fetal tissue for profit. A grand jury concluded that Planned Parenthood did not do anything wrong.
Let’s break down the bias. The FOX 11 story begins and ends with the bias of omission. What is the story about? It’s about the investigation into the Planned Parenthood videos which reportedly show Planned Parenthood workers and associates talking (and laughing) about the practice of selling fetal body parts. FOX 11 omitted this fact from the lead and also failed to mention the misdemeanor charge related to purchasing human organs.
Why didn’t FOX 11 show viewers clips from the undercover videos which pro-life supporters say supports the assertion that Planned Parenthood is in the business of selling body parts. That’s another omission. Let the viewers decide what to make of it. They can view the full videos on line as well.
We weren’t sure if FOX 11 was going to mention the videos at all. They buried the information at the end of the report. That’s bias of placement. It’s a completely different story when you play down the allegations against Planned Parenthood.
FOX 11 also uses the euphemism “fetal tissue” instead of “body parts” which is spin meant to lessen the sickening imagery of wholly intact babies being carved up for body parts.
